2025 Volkswagen Jetta First Review (Videos) on Everyman Driver

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta proves that sedans are still alive and well, especially for VW, where it ranks as the third-best seller behind the Tiguan and Atlas. The 2025 model brings subtle updates to the exterior and interior, ensuring it remains competitive.

Exterior and Interior Updates

The front and rear of the Jetta get a refreshed look with updated grilles and new LED headlights, now available with a light bar across the front. The rear features a redesigned trunk lid and a light bar. New 17-inch and 18-inch wheels, along with two fresh colors—Monterey Blue Pearl and Monument Grey—add to its updated appeal. Inside, the dashboard gets a sleek new design with an 8-inch infotainment system, complemented by “Climatronic” touch controls for HVAC and wireless Apple CarPlay, making the driving experience more modern and tech-savvy.

Performance and Driving Experience

The 2025 Jetta retains its powertrain options, with the standard model featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 158 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The sportier GLI variant gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 228 hp, with the option of a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission. The manual option in the GLI is particularly notable, given the decreasing availability of manuals across car brands, making it a favorite for driving enthusiasts.

Driving Impressions

On the road, the Jetta offers ample low-end power, smooth handling, and a well-controlled ride, even with its torsion-beam rear suspension. The GLI, with its more powerful engine and multi-link rear suspension, provides a more connected, dynamic driving experience without sacrificing comfort. Shifts in the GLI’s manual transmission feel seamless, allowing drivers to enjoy both everyday driving and spirited backroad adventures.

Pricing

The 2025 Jetta lineup starts at $23,220 for the base S trim and goes up to $30,225 for the fully-loaded SEL. The GLI, with its added performance and features, is priced at $33,940. Whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly, well-rounded sedan or a sporty, manual-driven thrill, the Jetta and GLI offer solid options.

Both models will be available at dealerships by the end of Q3 2024.
