Family Speed Wagon: 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant (plus Videos) on Everyman Driver

The Audi RS 6 Avant carries over into 2025 without any major changes from the previous year… and that’s fine because it continues to solidify its reputation as a high-performance luxury family speed-wagon, effortlessly blending exhilarating speed with everyday practicality.

Building on Audi’s renowned RS lineage, the RS 6 Avant pairs a powerful turbocharged V8 engine with dynamic handling and a finely crafted interior. This makes it an ideal choice for drivers who crave both adrenaline and comfort.

Compared to these competitors, the RS 6 Avant delivers a more accessible balance between luxury and power. The Mercedes-AMG E63 S offers a similarly thrilling ride but comes at a steeper price point, while the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, despite its advanced hybrid options, doesn’t match the RS 6 Avant’s aggressive styling or its slightly larger cargo capacity.

Strengths of the RS 6 Avant include jaw-dropping acceleration, a tech-forward interior, and the practicality that comes with its spacious wagon design. However, its high price and relatively firm ride may deter those looking for a more budget-friendly or comfortable daily driver. Overall, the RS 6 Avant remains a top-tier choice for performance enthusiasts seeking luxury and utility in one package.

Available in a single, well-equipped trim, the 2025 starts at $128,895 (including a $1,295 destination fee), with several optional packages available for further customization and price.

The RS 6 Avant is powered by a monstrous 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This power is channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, ensuring lightning-fast acceleration and precise handling. The car rockets from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, making it one of the quickest wagons on the market!

Equipped with adaptive air suspension, the RS 6 Avant balances sharp handling with a composed ride. For those seeking even more agility, the optional Dynamic Package adds all-wheel steering to enhance cornering capabilities. While the ride is firm, especially in sportier settings, the car still manages to absorb most road imperfections well. Its firm brake system offers excellent stopping power, giving drivers confidence during high-performance runs.

Fuel economy reflects its performance focus, with the EPA rating it at 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. While this isn’t particularly fuel-efficient, it’s typical for a car in this high-performance category. Unlike some competitors, such as the plug-in hybrid BMW M5, the RS 6 Avant doesn’t offer any hybrid or electric options, focusing purely on delivering raw power.

Inside the 2025 RS 6 Avant, you’ll find a meticulously designed cabin with premium materials like leather and optional Alcantara trim. The sports seats are both supportive and comfortable, ensuring a pleasant experience during spirited driving or longer road trips. While the front seats are spacious and highly adjustable, the rear seats are suitable for two adults, though three passengers might feel cramped on longer journeys.

Cargo space is competitive for a performance wagon, offering 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats and expanding to 59 cubic feet when folded flat. This makes the Avant more practical than rivals like the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon, which offers slightly less room.

Audi has equipped the RS 6 Avant with a dual-screen infotainment system, featuring a 10.1-inch upper screen for media and navigation, and an 8.6-inch lower screen for climate controls. The system is intuitive and responsive, although it may take some getting used to for drivers unfamiliar with multi-screen setups. Standard connectivity features include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Amazon Alexa integration.

In the end, this family wagon offers a near perfect blend of high-speed performance and luxury. Its premium features, dynamic driving experience, and practical design make it a standout for enthusiasts, though its high price and limited cargo space may be drawbacks for some.
