My Week With the 2024 Honda Prologue on Everyman Driver

The 2024 Honda Prologue is Honda’s first fully electric SUV, developed in collaboration with General Motors. Built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Blazer EV, the Prologue features unique Honda styling and interior design, setting it apart from its GM counterpart. Slightly larger than the Honda Passport, this midsize SUV comfortably seats five people and offers a blend of traditional and modern Honda interior elements.

The Prologue’s interior is spacious, with ample legroom, especially in the second row, and it includes a variety of standard tech features like an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, while it has a sleek design and good passenger space, its overall cargo capacity is only average for its class, and it lacks a front trunk (frunk), which some EV competitors offer.

Range estimates for the Prologue fall between 273 and 296 miles, which is decent but not outstanding compared to rivals that offer over 300 miles. Additionally, the Prologue’s performance is more subdued, with no high-performance variants available, unlike competitors such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Kia EV6 GT. While it handles reasonably well, the steering is less responsive than typical Honda models, and the acceleration is not particularly thrilling.

Despite these drawbacks, the Prologue remains an attractive option for many buyers, particularly because it still qualifies for the full $7,500 federal tax credit. This, combined with Honda’s reputation for reliability and the vehicle’s list of standard and optional features, makes the Prologue a competitive, though not class-leading, entry in the EV market.

Pros:

  • Spacious interior with plenty of rear legroom
  • Comprehensive list of standard features

Cons:

  • No high-performance variant
  • Average range and charging speed
  • Limited cargo space, no front trunk

Conclusion:
The 2024 Honda Prologue introduces Honda to the all-electric SUV market with a stylish, comfortable vehicle that offers a good array of features. However, its shared platform with GM has led to some compromises in driving dynamics and performance, which might deter those looking for a more engaging driving experience or greater range.
